How do I repurpose last years dress?
There are several ways to redo or update a dress from the previous year. One way is to layer over a cropped sweater. Cropped sweaters are very current and add new life to an older piece. It can be a pullover or an open button style. Also, a cropped top over a dress that has a zipper or a plain flat front adds a modern twist to an older piece. Some ideas are the following.
Another way to modernize the dress would be to take away its belt. Many dresses today are either structured or free form and neither style needs a belt.
Another change from last years dress look is to pair smaller jewelry pieces with it. Demure and smaller scale pendants are on trend can be paired with a small link chain for new impact.
Also, the current style is to wear loose fabric, but it’s not voluminous. We're streamlining the skirt portion of a dress from full volume, but are still impactful and comfortable. If your dress from last year has crinoline or netting in it, you can have it removed and it will hang in a more simple and less intentional not so heavy look.
What should I wear to a summer wedding ?
Florals .… Always appropriate and pretty.
Something airy …. To stay cool, comfortable and modern.
Something dressy …. Keep it special.
Something that is color rich….vibrant color always makes a statement and is festive for occasions .
Prints … in general are beautiful, fun and flirty.
Monet style abstracts of soft print.
Satin is a summer favorite. It has nice gleam or shimmer and high shine.
Dresses in lighter colors …. Sweet pastel colors are perfect for floaty summer dresses.
What are some fabrics for summer?
There are several fabrics I would recommend for summers and warmer weather.
Chiffon ….
Chiffon, it’s light weight and breezy. Keeps you cool and looking great in the warmth of the summer.
Knitted….
Knitted dresses are all the rage and can keep you looking very current and on trend in the hot weather.
Satin ….
Soft and pretty and lightweight, especially if made of natural fibers like silk or cotton; they are great choices for summer, as they are soft, lightweight, and breathable.
Cottons ….
No need to say more .
